所謂的膠合鏡組，就是將兩片或三片獨立的鏡片，以特殊的光學膠，將它們無縫的黏合在一起，形成一群鏡組。
膠合鏡組間的膠，會因某些原因，產生老化變質，而使鏡頭看起來不再通透清澈，這時一般稱為脫膠或離膠。不同款鏡頭的脫膠表徵不同，有的是整片霧霧的、有的是細微點狀的、有的會呈現反光亮面、有些會出現彩虹紋、有的會是點點雪花狀。 出現鏡頭如果有膠合鏡組出現脫膠的現象，或多或少會減損透光性，進而影響成像表現。 這種問題，原本是無解的，現在都已經可以復原了，且只要處理得當，畫質表現可以完全恢復！
脫膠鏡組的重新黏合處理，跟鍍膜拋磨拋光處理一樣很繁複費時，需要非常高的精準度成能順利完成，相對的，費用也比一般清潔處理來得高。
